Thank You Carbon!

Thank You Carbon!

My dear reader, before I introduce you to the inspiration of the title above, I would like to thank the many stakeholders who directly or indirectly have empowered me to be able to write this blog. My grandparents and parents – the pillars of my strength, our clients – my revenue stream and fierce friends, my team – the best that one can have, my competitors – the drivers of my inspiration and you dear reader – who has bravely embraced the last 78 words and hopefully will stick to the next 237 as well. The list is not exhaustive, but then it can never be.

One comes across so many blaring consequences of Global Warming and GHGs. One can occasionally also hear a rumble, though not so much in India about the fairness of the process of Carbon Emissions – CDM. Amongst all these headlines, one seldom thinks about what opportunities it has empowered people, specifically developing nations with and what avenues has the challenge of global warming presented.

Indeed, I am no supporter of the GHGs but climate change has helped shifting the spotlight from the developed to the developing nations. The developing nations on account of their inherent relative backwardness are in a better position to control their energy production and expenditure and hence their emissions destiny. From meeting energy needs through untapped renewable resources to adopting better technology, the developing would be the prime movers in the climate change arena.

Not only has climate change uplifted the importance of the developing but also has catalysed the process of their development by opening the gates of fund flow. CDM serves as one of the instruments for the same while carbon funds focussed on the developing countries are becoming fatter as you read.
In lieu of making the developing countries the rooks of the climate change chess and me a part of the machinery to serve this noble cause, I express my heartfelt gratitude to Carbon... Thank You Carbon!
